Working with Eclipse Season
Eclipse With It
Eclipse season is here, ready or not! With the entrance of the Sun into the sign of Virgo, it slowly awaits its time to meet up with the South Node, making the theme of this eclipse season all about “cleaning house”. Not just because of the influence of Virgo, but because the South Node is a point of release, letting go if you will.
Now if you have been around me for a while, you know that eclipses are not something I want you all to fear. Not even in the slightest. They are opportunities to shift things in your life and move with change in a more dynamic way. They are portals. Door-openers. Moments of illumination and redirection. They happen about 4 times a year, 6 months apart from one another, so their impact and cycle is not that rare. I always like to remind people that you have experienced and survived many eclipses so far, so there is no need to fear them. Instead, work with them — embrace them!
Now, it is true that they can kick up the dust and bring in a flurry of energy. This, for some, can feel chaotic and without focus. The lack of clarity is often the thing that creates the most fear — that and the unknown around the changes or how they may occur. But to me, that is the beauty of the season. It gives us a chance to know that we can be intentional in our reaction and support of said change. There is no need to resist. Lean all the way in.
If you are curious to learn more about eclipses and the nodes in general, I suggest checking out my upcoming workshop on the Nodes! It can help you identify the themes of your life and show you the direction you may be headed. Which is a perfect companion to this method that I have outlined in this article.

Alright, if we know that we are in a season of release, how can we be intentional about it? Simple! I want you all to focus on three key principles this season: Forecast. Edit. Style. I will go on to explain what I mean in a moment, but know that contrary to the name, this does not need to be fashion focused. I want you all to think critically about these concepts and figure out where they are best to be applied in your own life. For me, yes, I will be doing a closet clean-out using the “forecast, edit, style”, but that is because I am a firm believer that if you move something physically, it can move things energetically — magic in the mundane if you will.
So what is “forecast, edit, style”?
Good question!
This is a method I came up with to help you identify what needs attention in your life and how to work with it or move through it. It allows you to dream/imagine, determine/judge, and apply. It moves us from a place of concept into action.
Forecast
Forecasting happens all the time in life. Literally, to forecast is to predict, hypothesize, and/or anticipate. We can look at the past or present to help us identify what may be coming our way in the future. We do this in the fashion industry, but also with weather, astrology, and many other means that require us to pattern-recognize. Forecasting is about noticing trends.
For this eclipse season, we are going to work with the signs that the eclipses will fall — specifically the South Node which is in Virgo. You are going to take a look at your chart and see where Virgo sits. What house does it rule? Do you have planets or angles in Virgo? Any asteroids even? Our charts hold every sign in it, so you will have Virgo somewhere in your chart. Then, once you figure out where it is, you can start to anticipate or forecast what this season or the eclipses may bring to that area of your chart or those planets.
For example, if you have Virgo ruling your 3rd House, then themes of that house will arise like communication, neighbors, siblings, travel, busyness, new thought patterns, ideas, and your local community. Since it is a point of letting go this season, maybe it is about releasing old ideas or negative thought patterns — perhaps learning to think differently or open your mind to new concepts that are more inspiring and less critical. This forecast can become the focus of your season and allow you a realm to place your intention for the next few weeks. Alternatively, if you have a planet in Virgo, learn about that planet. How will the South Node bring a closure to the energy of that planet?
As added bonus, you may also want to consider if you have any planets or angles in Mutable signs outside of Virgo, too. Pisces, Sagittarius, and Gemini. These will be highlighted during eclipse season as well. They will be caught in either square or opposition, meaning they will have some turning point energy around them. If you have a planet in any of those signs, you may have to shift your relationship with that planet. Whatever house those signs rule will get some much needed attention as well. Maybe redirections are in order for those Houses also.
Forecasting will be a place where we anticipate more than anything else. It isn’t about trying to determine what will happen, but instead knowing that we will have impacts to this area, so we can be ready for when something arises. Thinking of this part of the process as the place to dream, ideate, and play.
Note: If you want to do this without astrology, you can and should! Not everything needs to have an astrological focus on your chart to make sense. You will already be working with the astrology by doing this process during eclipse season! So its intention is baked into whatever you are trying to unstick yourself from. Don’t feel pressured to make it a chart thing. Make it something that you want or feel you need right now.
One great way to work with the forecast piece more tanigbly is to create a vision board. What do you want to see this forecast bring into your life? How will eclipse season open doors for you? If you are working with that 3rd House energy in my example, then maybe the vision board includes a book or poems, maybe a new local spot you wanted to try, or perhaps a friend gathering you’ve been meaning to have. If you are doing something with fashion, maybe the forecast is about envisioning the wardrobe you want to wear or have. If you are forecasting something else in life, think about what you want the outcome to be. That is your ultimate goal — what you are trying to forecast in the first place. I would encourage you to do this in the coming days or week as to prepare for the first eclipse we will have on September 7th.
Edit
Now once you have forecasted or identified what is being impacted or what you may see come forward in this eclipse season, then we get to the place of consciously letting go — the editing.
Editing is often about culling back, removing, and reconfiguring. This allows us to create space for what we have forecasted. We can truly let go. Be honest and critical about what no longer serves you or feels like something too weighted. Think, that in the sign of Virgo, the South Node is requiring us to edit where we feel too responsible or overly burdened by something. This means that we need to look at where we put too much on our plate. Where have you said “yes” out of obligation or fear? Where have you crossed your own boundaries? Where have you pushed yourself to your limits? That is what needs to be worked on.
The good thing about Virgo is that it can be realistic. It knows where it gets itself in too deep. It is amazing at creating efficiency and focus. It knows how to refine and make things feel more simple. We can work with the gifts of the South Node to edit in the way we desire. Just be careful of criticizing yourself in the process or trying to make the edit “too perfect”. This isn’t about perfecting something. It is about processing it. Removing the excess and reimagining our relationship to whatever it is we are cutting back.
If you are editing an area of your life, look at it with open eyes. Using the 3rd House again as an example: perhaps look at editing the amount of journals you keep, the amount of social obligations you say yes to, and/or the ideas that you are trying to execute. Consider that by saying yes to less, you can be more intentional about spending time with those that light you up and don’t feel like a responsibility. If you store your old journals that are full, you can leave room on your shelves for new ones. And if you focus on just one or two ideas right now, you can try to get one of them moving without the pressure of trying to do everything at once.
In contrast, if you are editing a planet, maybe look at the extremes or how you embody the excess of that planet. If it is the Sun in Virgo, what of your virgoan qualities needs to be culled back? Are you being too harsh or critical of yourself? Are you living in a state of guilt?
If it is your closet you are editing, look at what you are not wearing right now. Maybe put those items away from the time being or bring out the items you want to wear to a place where you can see them. You can edit by donating, trading, or removing wardrobe items, but you can also edit but curating and creating a capsule wardrobe.
So, in some ways editing isn’t about removing necessarily, but refocusing.
For this portion of the process, it is more up to you. What will it take for you to move closer to your vision board? This is the action-oriented portion. The steps we need to take. So because all of our goals are different, our ways of getting there will also be different. And I will say this, as we edit, we have to be honest with ourselves. If you are finding it hard to do so, then learn from the thing that Virgo has the hardest time with — asking for help. Bring in a friend or an accountability buddy to support your editing. Maybe you need that outside, unemotional attachment to push you to remove.
Style
Style is maybe the easiest and also most difficult part of the process — because it is both obvious and not. Style requires our input, our embodiment, and our desire to apply. This is all about how we style our lives.
You have dreamt and you have removed to make space for that dream. Now is the time to live in that dream. Making space doesn’t mean waiting for it to come. It means living in it now that you have the room to do so. Making a vision real is to exist in that vision. Like I said, it is both the easiest and hardest part.
What does this mean? It means that you have to and can take steps toward that vision all the time. Every. Single. Day. Prioritizing what you desire. This can look like not putting something off and just doing it (maybe because you have the time to now that we have edited). That can be updating your portfolio, submitting your resume for that job, asking that person on a date, or getting back into your magical or creative practice.
Styling is about living what you want in the present. Making it tangible. Embodying it.
Again with the 3rd House example I have used throughout this post, I would try publishing the article, poem, or story that I have been wanting to share. Maybe it is just starting the writing process. Maybe it is focusing on a brainstorming session. Alternatively, it could be inviting that friend you care about to the local spot you have been wanting to go to. Maybe engaging in the new thought patterns you’d like to have such as: believing in yourself or rewiring your response to compliments.
If you are working with a planet, maybe it can help to live in the highest expression of that planet. If it is the Sun, ask yourself what does the Sun do well? How can do I do that? Where can I show up more authentically or more creatively?
If this is about actual fashion or style, then maybe it is literally styling the clothes in your closet or capsule wardrobe. Trying to wear things that would be outside of your comfort zone or that brings you closer to your visualized wardrobe/aesthetic. Because newflash you are the person you envision yourself to be! Go figure, right? The idea is that you just needed to create space for you to see it yourself — or hopefully that was the case.
Look at the vision board you made at the start of the season. What was on it? What did you hope to see? What direction where you dreaming of? Now…go toward it. How can you, today, do something on that vision board. You will see that oftentimes it is easier done than said — yes you read that right. When we get out of our head, we can do so much more than we once believed possible. Remove the perfection and live in the progress. I am less concerned if the outcome is amazing and more if it is in line with the vibe you were trying to acheive. Because more often than not, when you just try to do something, it brings you closer to whatever it is you want than if you never tried at all.
Styling requires that you have some confidence, self-worth, and personal faith. It means you know you can pull it off — literally and figuratively.
What you wanted wasn’t in front of you this whole time, but instead it has been within you all along. Hell, it is you.

I have been inspired by your writing lately and my somewhat beige wardrobe was in need of something a little more “visible”. So I bought a pink tshirt and some matching pink roses for my house and I am already feeling more confident about trying new things. Thank you for your ideas about how to work with astrology as inspiration for bringing out our true selves!
