Understanding Gemini Season
Gemini Season begins on May 20th at 2:55 PM ET. Gemini is the twins, two sides of the same coin, two halves to a whole, and yet still two individuals. Here in this third sign of the zodiac, we see the binary – and yet, not. To say that Gemini is extreme is disregarding the truth. Gemini is the grey area, the liminal, and the space that exists between those extremes. Therefore, Gemini is truly non-binary — flexible and curious in nature, integrating all they learn into their lives. They amalgamate everything, swirling it all around into their own complex natures.
Changeability is a strength and asset to Gemini. Their endless ability to try new things and stay relevant is what makes them masters of communication and masters of human understanding. They are Mutable Air, almost the most mutable of all (Water is the only other element that’s more mutable). Air is penetrable, yet changes its pattern to what stands in its way. Geminis approach obstacles just like this. Instead of charging ahead or standing their ground, they find ways around it. They see an issue and can find a solution by shifting their perspective.
Moving through Gemini Season
Gemini season always takes its lead from Mercury, which like Gemini is dual in nature. Mercury exists between realms, literally able to exist in several places at once. Through speed and velocity, it navigates situations with ease and sharpness. We begin the season with Mercury in Taurus, where it finishes its time in the Fixed Earth sign. It makes a conjunction to Uranus on the 24th, telling us to feel inspired, spontaneous, and whimsical. It may be pulling something back up from the week prior, when the Sun and Uranus joined forces. Stay open, aware, and expect the unexpected.
Mercury will then enter Gemini on May 25th. It will only stay in its domicile (or home) placement for two weeks. It makes quick work of its time though. It immediately harmonizes with Pluto and then connects with Mars before ending its transit with a trine to Jupiter. From May 25 to June 8th, use this time to get anything you want off the ground — especially in terms of contracts, writing, proposals, teachings, orating, etc. Key dates to note during these two weeks are:
May 25th — Mercury ✶ Saturn — excellent day for long-term planning or focusing on details.
May 26th — Mercury ✶ Neptune — a creative and inspiring transit. Use this for daydreaming, ideating, launching creative services or products.
May 27th — Mercury ▵ Pluto — good for investigation, deep conversations, and getting to the root of a situation.
June 5th — Mercury ✶ Mars — perfect for inspired ideas, getting a move on, and creating action items based on recent needs or dialogues.
June 8th — Mercury ☌ Jupiter — a gold star day for ANYTHING you want to get off the ground. This is one of the luckiest days of the year for anything that deals with Mercury-related matters, i.e. travel, writing, teaching, reading, contracts, conversations, languages, networking, etc.
Mercury will then enter Cancer on June 8th. From there, it begins to track ahead, pulling emotions and intuition to the surface. In tender Cancer, we find Mercury speaks differently, less direct and more symbolically. It asks that we tune in more to what people are trying to say, what they mean, not the actual words they express. It allows us to read between the lines and pick up on the nonverbal cues. Key dates for Mercury in Cancer are:
June 9th — Mercury □ Saturn and Neptune — it is best not to get carried away this day. We can feel a bit tired or withdrawn. We may feel mounting pressures or even a bit directionless.
June 11th — Mercury ✶ Venus — a much better day! These two rejoice in each other’s energy and find nourishment. Sensual, domestic, and deeply connective activities will flourish. Maybe spend time near water, in the garden, or with close loved ones.
Venus is now finally out of its post-shadow period and working through new territory this year! This marks a big shift in how we show up in our values and how we embody our worth. Venus will continue through Aries until June 6th. Then, it comes home in the sign of Taurus, ushering in more grounded energy and a bit more sensuality. Venus in Taurus will feel like a big change from the last 5-6 months. It’s earthy nature will be just what we need to settle into the back half of this year. Key dates for Venus are:
May 22nd — Venus ▵ Mars — this is an ultra sexy and magnetic day. These two cosmic lovers enjoy being in one another’s court. They support any activities around intimacy, relationships, or even friendships! These two are about connection when they harmonize. Maybe do something a bit spontaneous or creative.
June 4th — Venus ✶ Jupiter — A very good day for focusing on putting your values to work or in support of community. Jupiter is expansive, allowing us to use our talents and resources in a way that benefit many. Try volunteering, organizing, protesting, sharing, hosting a dinner party, donating, etc.
June 9th — Venus □ Pluto — This is a bit of a tough day, where we may feel challenged by those closest to us. It is just temporary, but don’t let power struggles get you down.
Mars will spend most of its time in Leo through the rest of Gemini Season. It will continue to tells us what it means to act with integrity, loyalty, and creativity. However, it will also push us to play. Mars in Leo is joyful, at times childish, and demands us to engage in pleasurable activities so we don’t lose the plot (our happiness). Mars supports the Sun in Gemini throughout the season in different ways. On June 17th, Mars will also enter new territory as it moves into Virgo. This will mark the first time since last September that Mars is in a sign other than Cancer or Leo. Mars in Virgo is more focused, flexible, and organized. We could feel responsibility knocking. However, we can’t forget what Mars in Leo taught us — to still have a good time. The one cautionary day I have for you all with Mars is May 15th. This is the Mars/Uranus square. When these two come together, it can feel big, a little dramatic, and volcanic (although not that catastrophic). Really this energy is more about rushing or feeling heightened urgency that could end up creating tension, issues, or aggravations. Try to slow down and not overdo anything this day. Accidents can be likely!
Jupiter and Saturn Shifts
Ok there are truly two stars of Gemini Season that I have not touched on yet. Saturn entering Aries and Jupiter entering Cancer. Both of these transits are high on the radars of astrologers and non-astrologers alike. They are bigger changes that have more long-term impact — especially Saturn. So where to begin?
Saturn will enter Aries on May 24th. This will be first time that Saturn will be in the Cardinal Fire sign since the mid-late 90s. Saturn in Aries is considered its fall, a place where Saturn acts out of character. Essentially, we feel a hastiness that Saturn just doesn’t agree with. However, Saturn in Aries is all about restructuring and rebirthing. It asks that we constructively move through our anger in a way that is beneficial for society — and ourselves. It tells us to engage in action. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, so there will be many “new beginnings” or “first times” in the coming few years as Saturn settles into Aries. It can feel disruptive, as most new things can, but it will also help us shake out of some of the stagnation we may be feeling. Saturn will only have a temporary stay in Aries this year (May 24th to September 1st). Pay attention to what is being dismantled and rebuilt during this time, as it will be relevant later when Saturn fully enters Aries for 2.5 years in February of 2026. I have more I can say about Saturn in Aries, but perhaps I will leave that for its own post in the coming weeks.
Now, let’s turn our attention to something a bit better…brighter if you will (literally). Jupiter will enter Cancer on June 9th, where it will stay for over a year (leaving on June 29th, 2026). Where Saturn may not love being in Aries, Jupiter ADORES being in Cancer. It is Jupiter’s favorite sign! Jupiter in Cancer is like a soothing balm — but more. It heals and washes over any burns Saturn may create. This will be first time since early/mid 2014 that Jupiter was in this Cardinal Water sign. Jupiter will start by expanding and supporting anything that the Mars Rx earlier in the year brought up (in a good way). It will open doors of opportunity and be this beacon of light through the year. Jupiter’s movement into this sign is something I can’t underscore enough in its importance. Wherever Cancer is in your chart, that is where you will feel the benefits of this the most. My friends with strong Cancer placements as well will love this. Jupiter is nourished, loved, held, and embodied in Cancer. It gifts us the ability move through the world with heightened intuition and deeper meaning. It exalts empathy as a pathway to growth and can turn the tides to bring fortune in your favor. Of course, this won’t just happen on its own. Jupiter is still an active planet and Cancer is a Cardinal sign, meaning that you need to be willing to take the lead. Fortune favors the bold, and luck is created not found.
Jupiter and Saturn will square almost immediately upon Jupiter entering Cancer (on June 15th), creating the third time these two face off in the last year. The difference is that they are doing so in a new place and in new signs, which means that old solutions to problems will not work. You have to be entrepreneurial and open to new ideas. These both are going to push us outside of our comfort zones. This little bit of tension is for our own good, our growth — and we will see that once we get into Cancer Season and move toward the luckiest day of the astrological year (little hint, it is right around the corner).
Overall, this month is about big changes and new beginnings. We are entering fresh waters and going through uncharted territories. It is going to require us to be more bold, more open, and more flexible.
Note: Below are the two dates for the New and Full Moons that will be coming up in Gemini Season. As always, you all will receive a deeper dive into them, but I wanted to highlight them here so you can mark them on your calendars!
May 26th @ 11:02 PM ET — New Moon in Gemini. A dark moon during the early part of the season means we have time to work with archetype of Gemini in the coming weeks. We will see how it emerges in our lives and how we can more consciously work with it.
June 11th @ 3:44 AM ET — Full Moon in Sagittarius. A Full Moon mid-season feels like a moment to refocus and redefine. Here we illuminate a need for truth and honesty in Sagittarius. We can see how our pathways become more clear and what lies just beyond the horizon.
